Take small actions
Do this one thing today to help stay organised!
There are many aspects to achieving an organised home. Starting with small steps, focusing on one room at a time, choosing to let go of some items and of course getting the help from a home organiser will really push things along.
But todays tip is a small one that makes a big difference in helping to stay organised.
Recently I was going through my clothes (a fairly regular occurrence for me), and I remembered about 2 items in a bag I had put aside for mending. I then found 2 other items that I wasn’t wearing due to one needing to be taken up and one with a new hole in it. Whilst adding these new items to my bag for the seamstress, I made a decision to deal with them all right then and there.
I messaged a local seamstress and booked my clothes in to be repaired, adding the date straight into my diary for taking my clothes in.
This sounds small and fairly insignificant, however, I believe that all these little piles in our homes of clothes to be fixed/ taken up, batteries to be recycled, bags to donate to charity, an item to drop back to a friend, they are all items that are taking up space in our homes and in our minds. Each time we see this pile or these items, we are subconsciously reminding ourselves of something we have to do, yet still haven’t done.
My TIP to you today is to TAKE ACTION on just one of those things that needs doing in your home.
Book in those clothes to be repaired and wear them!
Take in that watch to be repaired or sold at the jewellers!
Text that friend whose item of theirs you have been meaning to return!
Superglue that broken item and use it again!
Order that size of battery you need to make that toy work again!
It’s usually a small quick action, but the more you get in the habit of this, the better you feel and your home has a greater chance at staying organised.
I suggest starting with just one small action, and notice the difference it brings from being able to clear that pile or use that item again. Hopefully you will see how quick and easy it was and start to get in the routine of taking small but regular actions to keep your home organised.
